On a sultry 90°F Saturday, July 18, several Shorewood residents on East Rush Lake, along with RLIA members, gathered to assist with and observe the attempted installation of the first nano bubbler in the West “T” channel.
The effort reflected meaningful community collaboration, bringing together residents, volunteers, and the installation crew to work through a few unexpected challenges. Although the system was fully assembled and ready for activation, a faulty relay was identified during setup, temporarily delaying deployment.
The equipment remains staged and prepared for installation once replacement parts arrive, and the team looks forward to bringing the system online shortly.
Shorewood extends its sincere thanks to RLIA for providing the equipment and initiating this pilot project in the West “T” channel. Shorewood is covering the ongoing costs of the pilot. Special appreciation is also due to the installation crew for their persistence and hard work, as well as to the residents who generously allowed equipment placement on their property.
PLM conducted a baseline survey of the West “T” channel to establish pre-installation conditions. The bubbler is expected to run through at least mid-October, with a mid-point evaluation planned to assess early effects.
All involved look forward to reviewing the results of this important pilot project.
