IN MEMORIAM – RON AND JUDIE PELTIER

The Rush Lake Improvement Association remembers with gratitude former members Ron and Judie Peltier.  Last November, Ron, and then Judie, his wife of 59 years, passed away within days of each other.  They are fondly remembered for their many generous contributions to their local community organizations, including the Rush Lake Improvement Association. They offered their leadership in developing our annual Christmas Party, in helping to raise funds to rip-rap the channel and in knowing the best way to deal with Eurasian Milfoil when it was first discovered in Rush Lake.  Ron contributed what he knew from his previous experience with this invasive weed.  When he was an employee of the White Bear Lake Department of Public Works, Eurasian Milfoil was first encountered in Bald Eagle Lake.

Ron Peltier was for years a dedicated member of our Board of Directors.  He is responsible for the proposed plan to connect the entire lakeshore community to a common sanitary sewer system.  Although this plan has not been realized, it remains a basic study which is likely to become part of future options as Rush Lake development continues.

Our past president, Tom McKenzie, recalled Ron Peltier’s contributions: “His spirit as a volunteer and his knowledge concerning almost every facet of our improvement association was very much appreciated.  Ron could be critical, but it was his attempt to make it better, always constructive criticism.  He was a gentleman.”
